This policy explains what cookies are, which cookies and similar technologies we use on the Walz website, for what purposes, and what options are available for managing preferences. Essential cookies are required for the site to function and do not require consent; non-essential cookies (measurement, marketing) will be activated only after your express consent (opt-in) in the cookie banner, and consent may be withdrawn at any time. This policy supplements the Privacy Policy.
Table of Contents
1 What Is a Cookie
- A cookie is a small text file the site stores in your browser, used to identify a sign-in, save preferences and measure usage.
- Alongside cookies, similar technologies exist (localStorage, visitor identifiers); this policy applies to them too.
2 Essential Cookies (No Consent Required)
- Sign-in cookies (session/auth): identify the signed-in account and maintain sign-in security (HttpOnly).
- Site-gate cookie: allows access to the site during the pre-launch period.
- Basic preferences: saving interface state (for example, dismissing banners).
- Visitor identifier: protects listing and project view counts from inflation (unique-view detection); data is retained at identifier level for up to 180 days and is not linked to advertising.
3 Measurement and Analytics Cookies (Subject to Consent)
- PostHog ("Analytics" category): understanding how the site is used in order to improve it; activated only after approval in the banner. This includes anonymised screen recordings and heatmaps; input fields and personal details are masked in the browser, and private areas (account, admin) are never recorded.
4 Third-Party Services with a Technical Aspect
- Maps (MapTiler/OSM): loading map tiles from external providers — the browser sends them an IP address as part of loading.
- Fault monitoring (Sentry): technical error reports for fixing faults, with minimisation of personal information.
- We do not currently run third-party advertising pixels (such as the Meta Pixel); to the extent any are activated, they will be subject to prior consent and this policy will be updated accordingly. Consent signals for future advertising services (Google Consent Mode v2) are already wired up via the "Marketing" category — denied by default until you confirm consent.
5 Managing and Withdrawing Consent
- On your first visit a cookie banner is displayed with equal options — "Accept all", "Necessary only" and "Customize" (per-category toggles for "Analytics" and "Marketing") — with nothing pre-selected.
- You may change your choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of the site or by deleting cookies in your browser.
- Blocking essential cookies through your browser may impair the site's functioning (for example, signing in to your account).
6 Legal Basis
- The use of non-essential cookies is carried out on the basis of consent, in accordance with the Protection of Privacy Law (including Amendment No. 13) and the positions of the Privacy Protection Authority.
- For visitors from the European Union — also in accordance with ePrivacy/GDPR rules.
